The state-run Polish company said in a statement on Wednesday that it wanted the compensation “to cover, among others, additional costs of processing such oil.”
CEO Daniel Obajtek was quoted as saying on the company’s website that PKN Orlen had incurred costs to protect its “production units and to ensure the supply of clean, uncontaminated oil and maintain the continuity of processing.”
“We are determined to recover all the costs we had to pay,” Obajtek said, as quoted at the orlen.pl website.
PKN Orlen also said in its statement that the compensation was being sought “in connection with the shutdown of the Druzhba pipeline” in April.
“The supply of Russian oil was interrupted for 46 days" starting from April 24, the company added.
