Polish unemployment at 5.2% in December: stats office

Unemployment in Poland stood at 5.2 percent in December, up from 5.1 percent in November, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday.

The figure was in line with an earlier estimate by the country’s labour ministry.

There were around 866,400 people without jobs at the end of December, up from 849,600 a month earlier, according to the government-run statistics agency.

The European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, said this month that unemployment in Poland was a modest 3.2 percent in November, the third-lowest rate in the 28-nation European Union.
