Three Polish research centres – the Łukasiewicz Research Network/the Institute of Biotechnology and Antibiotics; the National Oncological Centre; and the Medical University in Wrocław, southwest Poland – have been selected to join the PLN 5 million (EUR 1.2 million) project, part of a global effort to produce a vaccine for the virus.
The Medical Research Agency will also continue working with its foreign partners, among them the US National Institute of Health.
Created in March 2019, the agency is a specialized body of experts who have been tasked with working on innovative solutions in Polish medicine, with particular emphasis on clinical, observational and epidemiological research.
Klaudiusz Madeja spoke to the agency's head, Radosław Sierpiński, soon after it was established.
