A court in the north-central city of Toruń placed her under arrest for two months, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The woman, named by officials only as “Karolina L”, went to a pharmacy and two grocery stores, the agency added.

It reported that, as a result, two other people have been placed under quarantine.

Marcin Licznerski, head of the district prosecutor's office in Toruń, said the woman had endangered people’s lives.

People under quarantine in Poland are not allowed to leave home for 14 days.

A total of 14,006 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 illness in Poland, with 698 deaths from the coronavirus so far, officials said on Monday afternoon.
