Hundreds queued up on Saturday to receive their PESEL, a personal identification number, in front of Warsaw's National Stadium, where a special registration point was opened.
On Saturday, the first day of the centre's operation, 1,120 refugees from Ukraine had a PESEL number assigned.
Those who were unable to obtain the Polish ID number on Saturday, received special bracelets to allow them to be served without queuing on Sunday.
According to the Polish Interior Ministry, the cities of Warsaw, Kraków and Wrocław have seen the biggest numbers of applicants, with much smaller queues observed in towns.
Officials note that regardless of their place of residence, Ukrainian refugees can freely select a PESEL registration point.
Meanwhile, the Polish Interior Ministry released a video tutorial in Ukrainian, providing details on how to apply for the PESEL identity card and use some digital public services.
Poland’s president a week ago signed into law a wide-ranging package of support for Ukrainians escaping the Russian invasion of their country.
The measure grants them legal stay in Poland for the period of 18 months and ensures access to education, family assistance, childcare allowance and multiple social care handouts.
