President keeps spot as Poland’s most trusted politician in new survey

President Andrzej Duda has retained his position as Poland’s most trusted politician, with 50 percent of respondents in a new survey expressing confidence in him.

Pollster CBOS said trust in the president increased by 1 percentage point compared with a similar survey last month.

At the same time, 37 percent of respondents said they did not trust Duda, a proportion unchanged from November, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Lower-house Speaker Szymon Hołownia was named the second-most trusted politician in the country, with 48 percent of those surveyed saying they have confidence in him.

Warsaw Mayor and presidential candidate Rafał Trzaskowski came in third, with 46 percent, the CBOS poll found.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Jarosław Kaczyński and Prime Minister Donald Tusk are the most distrusted politicians in the country, according to the survey.

Fifty-two percent of respondents said they distrusted Kaczyński, while 49 percent expressed distrust in Tusk, CBOS reported.

The survey was carried out from November 28 to December 8 on a sample of 915 respondents.
