German FM in Poland asks for forgiveness over WWII atrocities
Attending Thursday’s commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising against Poland’s Nazi German occupiers, Germany’s foreign minister Heiko Maas asked the Polish people for forgiveness for the horrors their country suffered during World War II.

“I am ashamed of what Germans acting in the name of Germany did to Poland,” Maas said in Warsaw.
He added that he was ashamed that “Germany's guilt was too long hushed up after the war.”
