During his three-year posting, Wojciechowski has participated in many historic events shared by the two countries, among them last summer’s trip Down Under by Polish President Andrzej Duda—the first ever by a Polish head of state to Australia.

Born in the western Polish city of Poznań, Wojciechowski emigrated with his parents to Brisbane in northern Australia when he was 12.

He has been that country’s first ambassador with Polish roots to be posted in Warsaw since the two countries established bilateral diplomatic relations more than 45 years ago.

"Having such strong Polish roots hopefully I acted as a bridge between Poland and Australia," Wojciechowski told Radio Poland’s Danuta Isler shortly before leaving his post.
