Warsaw backs accession talks at EU summit in Brussels

EU leaders on Thursday wrapped up the first day of a summit in Brussels without making any decisions about potential membership for two Western Balkan countries, North Macedonia and Albania.

Some member states insisted that the two nations were not ready to join the bloc.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reiterated his country’s strong support for the expansion of the European Union.

“It is certainly in the EU’s interest to complete the Western Balkans’ integration process,” he said.
