Ambassador Piotr Wilczek will represent Poland when Biden is inaugurated at 12:00 p.m. EST.
In an interview for public broadcaster Polish Radio, Wilczek said: "After talks with people in the new administration, I hope we will continue with projects, some of which started under [former US President Barack] Obama, such as strengthening the [American] military presence" in Poland.
He added that members of the incoming US administration have spoken positively about the Three Seas Initiative, a Polish-led regional cooperation drive by European countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas.
Wilczek also said Poland and America would work together on 5G networks and the issue of democracy in Belarus.
“We expect a good follow-up. We hope that cooperation will be at least as good as it has been so far,” Wilczek added.
As she was preparing to leave her post, the US ambassador to Warsaw, Georgette Mosbacher, said earlier this month that Polish-US relations were strong and likely to stay that way after Biden takes office in Washington.
