Fire service officer Karol Kierzkowski told public broadcaster Polish Radio on Sunday that around 27,000 tests had been carried out on Saturday at the 50 stations where the Poles worked. There were 1-2 firefighters or medics available at each point.
Kierzkowski added that the Polish team were also on duty on Sunday but after 6pm when the testing stations close, some sections would prepare to return to Poland.
Polish-Slovak collaboration has been going well and the Polish professionals are being helped by local authorities, Kierzkowski said.
The Polish team arrived in Slovakia on Friday to start conducting tests at the weekend, both in areas near the shared border and in other parts of that country, which neighbors Poland to the south.
Due to a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Slovakia, the government on Monday extended shelter-in-place orders for citizens until February 7.
Mass coronavirus testing is scheduled to run across Slovakia, a country of 5.5 million, until January 26.
Meanwhile, Poland on Sunday reported 4,683 new coronavirus infections and 110 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases to 1 475 445 and fatalities to 35,363.
