Qin Gang called such claims “disinformation,” tvp.info wrote.

Appearing on US broadcaster CBS’s Face the Nation show, the Chinese diplomat stated: “On Friday, President Xi Jinping and President Biden had a video call. It was candid, deep and constructive. President Xi Jinping made China’s position very clear: China stands for peace, opposes war, China is a peace-loving country,” tvp.info reported.

Referring to the situation in Ukraine, he added, as quoted by tvp.info: “We call for an immediate ceasefire … and we are sending humanitarian assistance."

Qin Gang said his country was sending “food, medicines, sleeping bags and baby formula, not weapons and ammunition to any party,” tvp.info reported.

“We are against the war. We will do everything to de-escalate the crisis,” the Chinese ambassador was also quoted as saying.

‘China and Russia have trustful relations’

Asked about Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s assertion that Moscow and Beijing would draw closer to each other amid the war in Ukraine, Qin Gang replied: “China and Russia have trustful relations, built over many years,” tvp.info reported.

He said, as quoted by tvp.info: “On the second day of Russia’s military operation, President XI Jinping did talk to President Putin, asking President Putin to think about resuming peace talks with Ukraine, and President Putin listened to it and we have seen four rounds of peace talks."

The Chinese ambassador also told the US broadcaster: “China has normal trade, economic, financial, energy cooperation with Russia.”

He added: “This is normal business between two sovereign countries,” tvp.info reported.

Monday is day 26 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
