Mateusz Morawiecki told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland: “Davos has not only the brain of the world but also its conscience.”

He added: “It is the responsibility of every leader to call for that conscience to act."

Referring to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Morawiecki urged: “Together we should do everything we can to stop the war!”

He described Russia’s actions in Ukraine as “an organised, systematic machine of destruction."

He added that "it's a machine that we can stop together through concrete decisions."

Poland has 'appetite for further growth'

Speaking about economic policy, Morawiecki said that Poland “is already a developed economy.”

“We have an appetite for further growth and the potential to develop,” he added.

He said that investing in Poland “is an investment in the stability and security of the whole West.”

Morawiecki told his Davos audience that just as the West extended a helping hand to Poland after the fall of communism more than 30 years ago, “today it is our duty to extend a hand to Ukraine.”

Tuesday was day 90 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
