Paweł Soloch made the remark in an interview with Polish state news agency PAP on Thursday.

He was speaking just after taking part in a two-day Polish-Swedish security-policy roundtable in Stockholm.

The meeting brought together diplomats, defence officials and policy analysts from both sides, PAP noted.

Talks focused on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and Sweden’s bid to enter NATO, officials said.

‘Sweden is interested in Poland’s NATO experience’

“Sweden wants to join NATO as soon as possible to receive guarantees of collective defence,” said Soloch, who is the national-security adviser to President Andrzej Duda.

He added: “Sweden is also interested in Poland’s experiences of joining NATO and being part of NATO.”

Sweden and fellow Nordic country Finland applied to join the Western military alliance last month. The move came amid security concerns following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

All 30 NATO countries must approve the addition of new members, officials told reporters.

Thursday is day 106 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
