The reading contrasted with a consensus forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 2 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
In month-on-month terms, industrial production in June was 5.9 percent lower than in May, the Central Statistical Office said.
Meanwhile, employment in Polish companies increased 2.8 percent last month on average in year-on-year terms, the statistics office reported on Wednesday.
The Polish economy grew 4.7 percent in the first quarter of this year, the Central Statistical Office said in a final estimate at the end of May.
