Warsaw hailed the decision as one that will safeguard energy security in the region.
“The court agreed with our arguments, and the European Commission's decision was overruled,” Poland's Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchórzewski said.
He added that the court’s ruling would help “maintain our energy security, as well as that of Lithuania and Ukraine, whose gas transit could have been completely halted if Opal’s capacity had been fully taken over by Gazprom.”
