"Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has asked President Andrzej Duda to appoint Jerzy Kwieciński as finance minister,” a government spokesman tweeted on Thursday.

Kwieciński will combine his new role with that of investment and development minister, the spokesman added.

PAP reported that Kwieciński was expected to be officially appointed as finance minister by the president on Friday morning.

Morawiecki has been combining the roles of premier and finance minister since August 30, when Marian Banaś gave up the finance portfolio to become head of Poland’s Supreme Audit Office (NIK).
