The figure was higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 4.7 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
In month-on-month terms, industrial production in September was 10.7 percent higher than in August, the Central Statistical Office said.
Meanwhile, employment in Polish companies increased 2.6 percent last month on average in year-on-year terms, the state-run statistics agency reported on Thursday.
The Polish economy grew 4.5 percent in the second quarter of this year, the Central Statistical Office said in a final estimate at the end of August.
