Polish gov’t, industry in bid to harness offshore wind

Polish government officials, companies and industry professionals on Wednesday signed a letter of intent to work together on developing offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea as the country seeks eco-friendly alternatives to coal.

According to Deputy Climate Minister Ireneusz Zyska, the project carries tremendous opportunities for Polish businesses.

“It’s a big chance to build … a whole new industry,” Zyska said.

He added that the initiative offered “the prospect of tens of thousands of jobs to be created, and a value chain to be built for thousands of Polish companies that would supply installations and services.”
