Consumers also complained that the prices of some items on sale were not marked, according to Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

The watchdog launched a probe and concluded that such practices had been taking place at least 2016, state news agency PAP reported.

Biedronka, owned by Portuguese group Jeronimo Martins, said it would appeal against the fine.
