The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, went up by 7.1 points to 8.9 in April, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.
The rise in the index reflected an increase in customer activity on the Polish market for banking services amid a drop in new COVID-19 infections, according to the report.
Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, the head of the Polish Bank Association, was quoted as saying that the latest reading of the Pengab index was better than in previous months, but still markedly lower than before the pandemic.
The study was carried out from April 12 to 23, surveying 100 bank outlets nationwide, state news agency PAP reported.
Last year, banking sentiment in Poland tumbled to its lowest level on record during the coronavirus pandemic.
