According to EU statistics agency Eurostat, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland in March held steady at a modest 3.1 percent, the lowest rate in the 27-nation European Union.

President Andrzej Duda in late January signed into law Poland’s budget for 2021, which expects the country's unemployment rate to rise to 7.5 percent by the end of this year, from 6.2 percent at the end of 2020.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin has said that the government has spent tens of billions to save more than 6.9 million jobs since the coronavirus crisis hit the country more than a year ago.
