Polish inflation at 12.3% in April: flash estimate

Inflation in Poland stood at 12.3 percent in year-on-year terms in April, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said in a flash estimate on Friday.

The reading was 0.8 percentage points higher than forecast by economists polled by Poland’s PAP news agency.

In Marchthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 11 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In FebruaryPoland's consumer price index stood at 8.5 percent, the statistics agency has said.

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council this month raised key interest rates for the seventh consecutive time in a bid to tame inflation.
