Polish inflation at 15.5% in June: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 15.5 percent in year-on-year terms in June, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Friday.

The reading was slightly lower than a flash estimate of 15.6 percent released by the state-run statistics agency at the start of this month.

In Maythe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 13.9 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In April, Poland's consumer price index stood at 12.4 percent, the statistics agency has said.

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council last week raised key interest rates for the 10th consecutive time in a bid to tame inflation.
