Polish inflation at 15.6% in July: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 15.6 percent in year-on-year terms in July, the country’s statistics office reported on Friday.

The reading was slightly higher than a flash estimate of 15.5 percent released by the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency at the end of last month.

In Junethe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 15.5 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to Statistics Poland.

In MayPoland's consumer price index stood at 13.9 percent, the statistics agency has said.

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council last month raised key interest rates for the 10th consecutive time in a bid to tame inflation.
