Poland's new parliamentary majority has introduced a bill to extend the freeze on electricity, gas and heat prices for households and public-sector consumers until June 30, 2024.
The measure passed in a 58-0 vote with 25 abstentions in the upper house of parliament late on Friday, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
The legislation, which was earlier backed by the lower chamber of Poland's bicameral parliament, now goes to President Andrzej Duda for signing into law.
If greenlighted by the president, the new rules will benefit households, local governments, public institutions, small and medium-sized companies and farmers, officials said.
