The law bans the printing of replicas of any kind of identification documents.

It is aimed at combatting a growing number of false IDs that have enabled some serious crimes, especially financial, to go unpunished.

The new regulations are expected to help fight gangs of forgers who used replica IDs, also known as “collector’s IDs,” to obtain bank loans.

Under the new rules, anyone who produces, sells or carries a replica of such a document could face a two-year jail term.
