Poles to be evacuated from coronavirus-hit China

The European Union is working to repatriate about 600 citizens from 14 EU countries, including Poland, from China due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Chief Sanitary Inspector Jarosław Pinkas has urged calm.

“Only those who have been to China could be infected, or those who have come in contact with someone who just returned from China over the last fortnight and had been to the locked-down city” of Wuhan, Pinkas said.

“Our local flu will be sure to cause more problems that this virus, I’m quite certain. Last year, due to low vaccination, 160 people died from flu” in Poland, he added.
