Prof. Bartosz Łoza, head of the psychiatry clinic at the Medical University of Warsaw, said the epidemic could become a defining moment for millennials, or people born in the 1980s and 1990s.

He added it could be similar to key moments for previous generations such as the Woodstock counterculture music festival in 1969, and the period of martial law declared by Poland’s communist regime in the early 1980s.

Referring to the COVID-19 epidemic that hit Poland earlier this year, Łoza told state news agency PAP: “This generation will always be referring to this community experience. Until sometime around 2100 someone will say: ‘Grandpa, stop talking about the pandemic’."

Poland on Saturday reported 15,178 new coronavirus infections and 599 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases to 973,593 and fatalities to 16,746
