It was born on January 6, and is the first baby rhinoceros in the zoo’s history.

The mother is seven-year-old Maruška, while the father is an 11-year-old rhino named Manas.

Native to the Indian subcontinent, this is a species which is threatened with extinction, with only some 3,600 such animals remaining in the world.

Elżbieta Krajewska was on the line to Wrocław Zoo director Radosław Ratajszczak to find out more.
