Workers at firms that have signed up for the initiative will be able to get shots from June 1. Before that, a pilot scheme starting on May 17 will test the system.

So far, over 740 companies have registered for the shots-at-work programme, said the prime minister's top aide, Michał Dworczyk, who is spearheading the government-run vaccination campaign.

"I believe that there will be more and more of them," Dworczyk added.

Officials announced on Monday that over 14 million COVID-19 vaccine shots had been administered in Poland so far.

More than 7,000 vaccination sites in total, including at hospitals and health centres, are now available to citizens, according to Dworczyk. A network of drive-thru immunisation points has also been launched.

Poland on Monday reported 2,032 new coronavirus infections and 22 more deaths, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,835,083 and fatalities to 70,034.
