The regional fire service told PAP that one of the casualties was a builder on whom a wall collapsed after a strong gust of wind.
The other victims died in car crashes: a man was swept off the road in his truck, and two people had a tree fall on their car in the regional capital Wrocław.
In addition, seven people were injured in the province, mostly after crashing their vehicles into fallen trees, or having trees collapse on their cars, the fire service said.
By 4 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters had responded to over 1,600 weather-related incidents in the Dolnośląskie region, PAP reported.
Gusty winds and storms have also been passing through the north-eastern Warmińsko-Mazurskie province, with numerous reports of trees collapsing on cars and buildings, and roofs being damaged by winds, PAP said.
Firefighters have also been busy in the northwestern Zachodniopomorskie province, with 560 weather-related emergencies by Thursday afternoon.
Among other incidents, a train travelling between the cities of Szczecin and Kołobrzeg hit a fallen tree near the town of Gryfice, a spokesman for the Polish State Railways (PKP), told PAP.
The local fire service told PAP the side window panes and the front part of the train had been damaged, while three of its 76 passengers sustained injuries.
The state-run meteorological institute, IMGW, warned that strong winds would blow at 100 kilometres per hour throughout the region, and at 110 kph in the coastal zone, until Friday morning, PAP reported.
Trees fell onto railway tracks also in the western provinces of Wielkopolskie, Dolnośląskie, Opolskie and Lubuskie, on a total of 13 occasions by 2 p.m. on Thursday, PKP announced, adding that maintenance crews were clearing the tracks.
Trains were being re-routed or replaced if necessary, the state-controlled rail company said.
Meanwhile, the State Fire Service (PSP) said it had handled over 3,200 weather-related emergencies across the country by 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The Polish weather agency on Thursday morning issued wind alerts for 14 of Poland’s 16 regions, with the exception of Małopolskie in the south and Lubelskie in the east, PAP reported.
