At the week-long event held in the country’s northern city of Gdynia, athletes are set to compete in over 20 disciplines, ranging from card games to mountain biking.

The World Polonia Games (Światowe Igrzyska Polonijne) is a sports event organized every two years by members of Polish communities living outside of Poland.

The Games are divided into winter and summer events. First Polonia Games took place in 1934 in Warsaw.

President Andrzej Duda has assumed an honorary patronage of the Games.

The event is being held under the media patronage of public broadcaster Polish Radio's External Service.
