In her first attempt she threw 76.35 metres, setting a new personal best.
Fiodorow told the WP website: “It was the competition of my life.”
The gold medal was won by America's DeAnna Price and the bronze by China’s Zhen Wang.
Fiodorow’s silver is the first medal for Poland in the championships.
