Poland's Fajdek wins hammer throw gold in Doha

The Pole won the event and defended his world title with a best throw of 80.50 metres.

France's Quentin Bigot was runner-up thanks to an effort of 78.19 metres, while Hungary’s Bence Halasz took the bronze with 78.18 metres.

Poland's European champion Wojciech Nowicki finished fourth with 77.69 metres.

In other medals for Poland at Doha, Piotr Lisek won the bronze in the men’s pole vault on Tuesday, and Joanna Fiodorow took the silver in the women’s hammer throw three days earlier.

The World Athletics Championships are being held in the Qatari capital from September 27 to October 6.
