The Polish-Brazilian duo overpowered Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and Slovakia’s Filip Polasek 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 in a hard-fought encounter in the British capital on Sunday.

Kubot and Melo are set to take on New Zealand’s Michael Venus and South Africa’s Raven Klaasen in their next ATP Finals clash on Tuesday.

The season-ending ATP Finals tournament in London is being held by the Association of Tennis Professionals from November 10 to 17.

The prestigious event features the world's eight best male singles players and doubles teams of the season.

Kubot and Melo are playing in the ATP Finals as a doubles team for the third year in a row.

The Pole and the Brazilian were in 2017 named the men’s doubles team of the year by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

This year, Kubot and Melo claimed one ATP doubles title, winning the Winston-Salem Open tournament in the US state of North Carolina in August.

The Pole and the Brazilian last month reached the final of the men’s doubles at the Vienna Open. They also played in the final of the Shanghai Masters tournament in China.
