Ciro Immobile of Italian outfit Lazio won the race for the European Golden Shoe award for the top scorer of the 2019/2020 season, with 36 goals.

Lewandowski, with 34 goals for Germany’s Bayern Munich club, finished No. 2, ahead of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, in third place with 31 strikes for Italian side Juventus.

The Poland international was in May crowned the top scorer of Germany's Bundesliga premier league in the 2019/2020 season, his fifth such trophy since he began playing in Germany in 2010.

The 31-year-old, who also captains Poland’s national squad, was earlier this year named the Bundesliga’s player of the season for 2019/2020 in a poll by the German top flight's official website.

In addition to notching up a strong Bundesliga season, the Pole scored six times for Bayern in the German Cup.

The Polish marksman also found the back of the net 11 times in this season’s Champions League, where his Bayern defeated Chelsea 3-0 in London in the first leg of the competition’s round of 16 on February 25 before games were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
