The game on Friday night marked the first time Kraków's Cracovia have won the national Super Cup title in a delayed curtain-raiser to the new football season in Poland.

The one-off Super Cup match is traditionally held between the winners of the Polish Cup and the Ekstraklasa premier league champions from the previous season.

Cracovia in late July beat Lechia Gdańsk 3-2 in the Polish Cup final.

Meanwhile, Legia Warsaw won Poland’s top-flight Ekstraklasa football league earlier that month.

Poland’s Ekstraklasa premier league kicked off its 2020/2021 season in late August after a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
