Tennis player Iga Świątek, the winner of the 2020 French Open, was voted runner-up in the annual poll.

Third place went to Polish triple Olympic champion Kamil Stoch, who won Saturday’s ski-jumping World Cup competition in Titisee-Neustadt, Germany.

The poll was held by Poland's leading sports newspaper Przegląd Sportowy and private television broadcaster Polsat.

The accolade for Lewandowski is no surprise. Last month the Poland captain won FIFA’s 2020 Best Men’s Player award, beating Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

In December, Lewandowski was also named Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

The awards cap off a remarkable year for Lewandowski, who is a striker for Champions League winners Bayern Munich. He scored 47 goals in 44 games for his club and country last year.
