The Polish goal machine, who also captains Poland’s national squad, found the back of the net after a first-half penalty. Lewandowski then paid tribute to the legendary German player by showing a shirt that read "4EVER GERD" as he lifted his playing top.
"I'm so unbelievably proud to make history for FC Bayern, and to play a part in creating the stories that fans will tell their children -- following in the footsteps of legends like Gerd Müller," Lewandowski wrote on Twitter.
Last week, Bayern Munchen won a ninth consecutive league title.
Lewandowski in mid-March became the Bundesliga's second-highest scorer in history, after Müller.
The record-chasing Pole comfortably leads the table among the division’s top scorers this term, with just one game remaining.
The Polish goal machine could still beat the record when Bayern faces FC Augsburg next week.
