Swimming: European silver for Poland’s Wasick

Poland’s Katarzyna Wasick has taken the silver in the women’s 50 metres freestyle at the European Aquatics Championships in Budapest.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands won the event on Tuesday, with a time of 23.97, while Wasick touched in at 24.17, tying for second place with Denmark's Pernille Blume and setting a new national record in the process.

Russia's Maria Kameneva finished fourth, with 24.29.

Wasick's silver marked the first medal for Poland at the 2021 European Aquatics Championships, which began in the Hungarian capital on May 10 and run until Sunday, May 23.
