Tennis: Poland’s Linette into 2nd round of French Open

Polish tennis player Magda Linette has cruised into the second round of the French Open tournament in Paris, with a straight-set win against home favourite Chloé Paquet.

The 29-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 45 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), ousted the French player 6-3, 6-3 in their first-round encounter on Tuesday.

Up next for Linette at the Grand Slam tournament in the French capital is Australia's world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty.

Meanwhile, Poland's Iga Świątek, who is defending her title in Paris, is set to face Sweden's Rebecca Peterson in the second round of the women’s singles competition at the French Open.
