The 20-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 6 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), saw off the Kazakh player 7-6, 6-2 in their quarterfinal clash on Friday.

The Polish tennis star will now face Greece's world No. 12 Maria Sakkari for a place in the championship match.

Świątek, who is the top seed in the tournament in Ostrava, earlier this month reached the round of 16 of the women’s singles at the US Open, where she lost to Olympic champion Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.

Świątek last year won the French Open, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title and becoming the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.
