The 21-year-old Polish world No. 1 made the statement at a news conference in Warsaw on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Świątek has won seven titles so far in 2022, including the French Open and the US Open, firmly establishing herself at the top of the women’s game.
Reflecting on the year so far, Świątek said: “I have worked hard for this and it is immensely satisfying to be dominating the field this season, in terms of ranking points, for instance.”
She has been world No. 1 since April 4.
The Polish star added: “I’m trying to appreciate the position I’m in at the moment, but I’m not getting complacent about it because in sports, you have to be constantly vigilant. One slip and you are left behind.”
“I try to view the future through the prism of new goals and new tasks,” she stressed.
Plans for the rest of 2022
Świątek faces a gruelling schedule in the final stretch of the season. Next week she will contest a tournament in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, quickly followed by another one in San Diego, California, in the United States, she told reporters.
Between October 31 and November 7, the Polish player is set to compete in the prestigious WTA Finals in Fort Worth in the US state of Texas.
Fitness permitting, she may also join Poland’s national women’s team for the finals of the Billie Jean King Cup, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from November 8 to 13, the PAP news agency reported.
Świątek said "a decision on whether to compete in Glasgow will be made next week."
