Warsaw Film Festival take 35

A total of 180 movies from 63 countries, including seven world premieres, will be screened during the annual Warsaw Film Festival, which opens in the Polish capital on Friday.

Film buffs will be able to meet directors, producers and actors.

The festival's director, Stefan Laudyn, has told reporters that films screened at the event focus on key contemporary issues and are selected exclusively for their artistic value.

He said: "We do not pick movies to suit a specific slogan or motto. We only choose those that we think are the best artistically.”

The festival runs until October 19 and is being held for the 35th time.
