Captains of Illustration: 100 Years of Children’s Books from Poland is a cross-section of a century of illustrations in literature for young readers, the book’s publisher, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, said on its website.

Boasting more than 800 illustrations from over 200 Polish graphic artists, the new publication “chooses exemplary works from 1918-2018, representing different technical forms, cultural touchpoints, famous names, series, thematic styles and motifs,” according to the publisher.

Captains of Illustration includes illustrations by the recently deceased Polish cartoonist Bohdan Butenko.
