The decision was announced on Monday in Beverly Hills, California, which is home to many Hollywood stars.

The Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 9 in Hollywood.

Corpus Christi tells the story of 20-year-old Daniel, who after leaving juvenile detention pretends to be a priest.

The film scooped 10 awards at the 44th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

Corpus Christi will be competing for an Oscar, the world’s most prestigious film award, against movies including Pain and Glory by Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, and South Korean black comedy Parasite.

Poland’s Bartosz Bielenia, who stars in Corpus Christi, is one of ten young promising European actors named a Shooting Star of 2020.
