The exhibition, entitled The ABCs of Polish Design, comprises a total of 100 objects and showcases what the organisers say is “the best of Polish design” from the past 100 years, ranging from furniture to toys to sweets.

On show are both “unique objects, original works of art and prototypes that never made it to mass production, but also popular items Poles have used on a daily basis over the last 100 years,” according to the organisers.

The selection is accompanied by visual interpretations of the pieces on display by 25 Polish illustrators.

The exhibition has been organised by the Warsaw-based Adam Mickiewicz Institute, with help from the Polish Consulate General in Toronto, as part of an international cultural programme accompanying the centenary of Poland regaining independence.

The event has been financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the multi-annual Niepodległa 2017-2022 programme.

The ABCs of Polish Design runs until February 16.
