An official at the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Jarosław Czuba, has told a press conference in Warsaw that the event will provide an opportunity to promote Polish music worldwide.
“Thanks to the visit … Polish music will be in the limelight far beyond Canada, as the Canadian Music Week is an event of international dimension,” he said.
The Canadian ambassador to Poland, Leslie Scanlon, has said that the choice of Poland as the event’s special guest country highlights the importance of Polish-Canadian relations in the creative arts.
The Polish performers to be featured at the Canadian Music Week will represent a wide range of electronic, pop, and alternative rock music influences.
Names include Marta Zalewska, Francis Tuan, Lua Preta and Sutari.
They have been chosen by the event’s selection panel from among 100 applications.
