The movie was named best film, and took 10 other awards, including for best director, best leading and supporting male and female roles, best screenplay, editing and cinematography.

The awards for 2020 were handed out on Monday night by the Polish Film Academy at a gala ceremony in Warsaw.

Corpus Christi last month failed to win an Oscar despite being nominated in the best international film category.

The movie, which features Polish actor Bartosz Bielenia in the main role, in September won the people’s choice award at the 44th Polish Film Festival in the Baltic city of Gdynia.

In Corpus Christi, Bielenia plays 20-year-old Daniel, who after leaving juvenile detention pretends to be a priest.

At last year’s Eagles awards, Paweł Pawlikowski scooped the prize for best director while his feature Cold War was named best film.
